Performance
Date
Saturday, May 31 & Sunday, June 1
3:30 p.m. Children's Concerts - Threadgill Theater
Don
Sanders began performing at age 5 with an
appearance in the title role of Littlest Angel
in an elementary school pageant. His
subsequent career has taken him from being a
singer/songwriter with half a dozen recordings
in the 70's, to acting and translating plays
in the 80's, to storytelling and one man shows
in the 90's. Currently, he travels the
Southwest performing his song and story shows
for schools, theaters and festivals.
People in the storytelling community are
familiar with Don's alter ego, Sourdough the
Camp Cook, who sings authentic cowboy songs
and tells stories based on the WPA interviews.
In addition to history tales, he also performs
Latin American folktales, stories of the
oilpatch and personal stories from his musical
career.
He has just completed a new theatrical
production of work songs titled River and
Rails, is currently writing a young adult
novel and recording a new CD of cowboy songs. |
